What are some home remedies for eczema?
Question by Ariyan: What are some home remedies for eczema?
I am 13 years old with eczema and I had it since I was born. The rashes went down for awhile and now they’re back again and in different places. They are also much much larger. Some are starting to burn and especially when I touch. I have taught myself to ignore the icthing but this time I have the urge to scratch it even more. Last time I got it cleared up I used a cream my doctor prescribed me and it worked but it was aslo exspensive. My mother wants me to use all natural remedies now. I have no problem with that. So if anyone know someone or even experienced/experiencing eczema and know any natural home remedies, please do tell. Share your story. It will help alot. Thanks in advance!

you could try taking evening primrose oil capsules they are cheap and may help alot – aqueous cream is available in chemists and is cheap you could cleanse and moisturise with it but the best cream ever is Lancome’s Nutrix and it is expensive – go to a Lancome counter in your local department store and ask for some free samples they also sell it on ebay sometimes – the other thing is to identify what you are reacting to – try giving up milk for one week to see if its the cause, good luck

Does anyone know any good remedies to get rid of dry skin?
Question by Leangel Barnhart: Does anyone know any good remedies to get rid of dry skin?
About two years ago I got really bad sun poisoning on my face, and the area around my nose, including my nose, has been incredibly dry. I’ve used many different face cleansers that say they help with dry skin, but none have worked. Actually, they made it worse. So I was just wondering if anyone had some remedies that actually work that will help me? I’d really appreciate your help.

Do you know of any home remedies for eczema?
Question by Meg M: Do you know of any home remedies for eczema?
I have horrible eczema on my arm. It is driving me insane. I take a daily antihistamine, and I moisturize constantly. I don’t use soaps or lotions that are scented. I’m doing all of the “right” things, but it isn’t going away.
I recently moved, and I discovered that no one in my area takes my medical insurance…thus no prescription steroid creams for me. The OTC steroid creams don’t work at all.
Does anyone have ANY suggestions?
Thanks so much!

Gold Bond – put it on until the skin can’t absorb anymore, wrap the area with cellophane and go to bed. In the morning, it should no longer be a bother. You may have to do this for a couple days in order for it to be fully effective.

Eczema is basically a skin disorder. It is also better known as dermatitis or inflammation of the epidermis. Eczema comes in different forms and infects mostly infants and children, although it can cause ongoing problems for adults also. The symptoms include swelling, redness, dryness, cracking, rashes, and even bleeding. In order to treat the problem you first need to identify the cause. Aside from the topical drug treatment, home eczema remedies are available to provide relief to patients. Here are some of the strategies you can use.
Environment Matters
Environmental factors can also aggravate dermatitis and eczema. A good home remedy for eczema is keeping your house clean. Dust mites have been identified as one of the possible causes for allergic dermatitis. The best way tot get rid of them is to keep your carpets and rugs clean. Vacuuming is an effective way to clean these materials. Good circulation of air can also help. Keep fresh air circulating by opening some windows, or if this isn’t an option invest in an air purifier.
Moisturizing
Dry skin aggravates eczema. If you want to avoid suffering from the flaking and scaling problems in your skin, moisturize with oil or creams. Use them twice a day for best results. If you have problems with eczema on your hands sleeping with moisturizing gloves can help to lock in the moisture. Increasing your fluid intake will also help to hydrate your skin from the inside out. Avoid using products that dry the skin. Soaps and harsh detergents can rob your skin of it’s natural oils and make it very dry and irritated. When choosing bath soap, go for the unscented and mild types with oil-based ingredients. These home remedies for eczema can help prevent worsening the condition.
Getting The Right Diet
Figuring out what foods cause allergic reactions is one of the most important eczema home remedies. Some of the foods known to trigger dermatitis include nuts, soybean products and dairy products such as eggs.
Bath and Beauty Basics
Your bathing and beauty practices can also be used as at home remedies for eczema. When you have a bath or shower avoid wash cloths that are harsh, such as loofahs or exfoliating sponges, as these cause tiny cracks in your skin and can make your eczema much worse. Instead use soft cloths or even none at all. When drying off don’t rub your skin or use any vigorous actions. Instead you should gently pat yourself dry with the towel. Use hypoallergenic moisturizers or oil to moisten your body. Apply the cream or lotion at least twice a day.
If you find that these home eczema remedies are not working for you then it might be time to see a dermatologist. Hopefully these eczema home remedies will help you with your symptoms, but if not then seek professional advice to help solve your problem.

7 Safe Home Remedies For Eczema You Should Try
Article by Caizechong
Adults and children suffer from eczema, though children are often more susceptible. Apart from itching and swelling, the presence of dry and cracked also indicates eczema. Common areas where children are likely to develop eczema are in the creases of skin that covers the elbow and knee joints. Do you have a hard time controlling your skin condition? Well worry no more, I’m going to show you how you can use home remedies for eczema, to help you get relief instantly.
1. to dry up your skin to prevent oil from clogging pores. With eczema, the last thing you want to scrub your already dry skin with is another soap that will dry it even more. In this case, you want to use an all natural, moisturizing soap or facewash. Make sure it is free and clear of any fragrances or other unnecessary ingredients.
2. If you apply vinegar (cider or white) to the area that’s affected, you will see positive results. Let the vinegar dry on the skin, and then rinse it with cold/cool water. When you do this, it will instantly take away the burning and itching you may feel from eczema. Once this is done, the healing process will soon begin.
3. Coconut oil is another great remedy for eczema. When we are thinking about how to clear up eczema at home we immediately wonder what we can apply directly to the affected skin to bring some instant relief. Coconut oil fits the bill perfectly. It’s a natural substance that will help stop the itch and also relieve much of the redness. Just apply it in a thin coat directly onto the skin. Coconut oil can be found in all major grocery stores so it’s readily available.
4. Chamomile is a natural herb, and you can typically find it mixed with a natural oil (such as almond oil). This works well to help relieve pain and bring back moisture in the skin. Just apply this to a cotton ball and dab lightly onto your skin. You’ll feel the pain and itchiness start to wear off instantly.
5. There are many herbs that offer natural cures for eczema. Goldenseal root, pau d’arco, tea tree oil, chamomile, comfrey, camphor, nutmeg, sandalwood and blueberry leaves are among the herbs that provide natural eczema cures. Zinc, flaxseed, vitamin E, evening primrose oil and shark cartilage are also beneficial in reversing the effects of eczema.Chinese herbs that offer natural eczema cures include chan tui, ku shen, shi gao, fang feng and gan cao.
6. Phenols – are naturally present in herbs such as thyme and oregano. These are compounds with similar properties with alcohol but have additional aromatic property, acts as antiseptic and with potent antimicrobial effects. In medicine, phenol is first used in the technique of antiseptic surgery. Thymol and carvacrol are phenols tested to be effective against drug resistant strain of bacteria, effective fungicides and main ingredients in everyday antiseptic solutions such as in mouthwash and medicinal lotions which makes them effective in eczema natural remedies.
7. Another good home remedy for eczema is cornstarch. This is very effective if you put it your bath water. Cornstarch in your bath, will help with the itching and will soothe your skin giving you immediately relief from your condition. This is one of the best home remedies for eczema.

Does anyone know any home remedies for eczema?
Question by Humbert Humbert: Does anyone know any home remedies for eczema?
I have mild eczema on my feet that is quite bothersome. I don’t think it’s bad enough to warrant prescription medication and I don’t feel like seeing a doctor, so does anyone have a helpful home remedy?

Answer by Dr. Mojo M
Hi,
Local steroid creams are the main treatment for the itching in eczema. Use the steroid cream as prescribed by the doctor. After the rash settles down, use it at least once daily for another 2 weeks. It can be used whenever the itching or rash develops.
Good hydration of the skin followed by a lubricating cream is the main way to prevent flare-ups of eczema. Water-soaked skin is much less itchy. The eczematous skin is very sensitive to soaps, therefore avoid soaps as much as possible, especially during flare-ups. Alternatively, use a mild, moisturizing soap.
The skin is generally dry in eczema. After a good bath, the skin feels good due to hydration. The moisture in the skin can be retained by applying a layer of lubricating cream to the entire skin while it is damp. Apply it daily after the steroid cream has been applied to the itchy areas. Avoid applying any ointments or petroleum jelly because they block the sweat glands, increase the itching, and worsen the rash, especially in warm weather. Also, soap is needed to wash them off, which can aggravate the problem.
Keep the fingernails cut short as the scratching with nails will perpetuate the vicious cycle of itching. Frequent hand washing will avoid any super-infection of the eczema.

There is a homeopathic remedy that is available online called Rhus Tox. Get the one ounce liquid form for $ 10-13 per bottle. Put a few drops under your tongue several times per day until the symptoms start to go away, (hold it under your tongue for a few minutes and let it get into your system completely). Do this every day until it clears up – 2-5 days, probably. As soon as you have the first sign of eczema returning, start taking it again until it goes away. If you have is what is called weeping eczema, this may be all you need – very mild, no side effects.
If you have a different form of eczema, this may not be the right solution for you, but it’s safe and inexpensive to try.
God Bless.

you will want to go to the doctor and get a prescription for something.
or go to the pharmacy and ask the pharmacist to help you pick something that is over counter.
you could also try a health food store and see if they have natural cream remedies they recommend.
Bowen Therapy is supposed to help with eczema too, but I cant say for sure whether it does or not, but it is something you could look into.
